While I’m in the posting-old-news mode, I figured I’d add some pictures of our Honeymoon/Spring Break trip from last year also. We got married in October of 2009,
but decided not to have our honeymoon directly after the wedding. Actually, we didn’t really decide that, it just wasn’t exactly feasible. Along with planning a wedding we had just bought and moved into our new house and Elane had just started a new job, so had no time off saved up. Because of all that, we decided to take our honeymoon the following Spring Break week.
After much thought and advice, we settled on going to Costa Rica. I had a whole bunch of frequent flyer miles saved up, which meant we could spend a little extra on the accommodations and was it ever worth it. We stayed at a new little all-inclusive resort on the north west coast of the country called Recreo. We had our own little bungalow with a private pool, great view, and personal chef. The resort was pretty small and very private, so we basically had the whole local area to ourselves, including two gorgeous beaches. How we always seem to end up on uninhabited beaches I have no idea!
It was by far one of the most relaxing vacations that I could imagine. We took some day trips to a volcano for zip-lining, tubing, and a spa, and also to Nicaragua to check out some of the scenery and historical sites up there. One of the days we also took an amazing sunset boat ride around one of the nearby bays. Other than that it was all relaxing in our pool or hanging out on the beach. We both would highly recommend Recreo and Costa Rica as a country for a nice relaxing trip away.
